Forest officials rescue wild gaur trapped in swamp near Valparai
Coimbatore: In Savarangadu tea estate near Valparai in Coimbatore district, a wild gaur had reportedly been caught in a swamp and was lying on the ground unable to get up and walk due to ill health.
The Forest Department was informed and on rushing to the spot, they found the wild gaur was ill due to old age and hence could not even stand. Forest officials immediately informed a veterinarian and kept a close watch.

A team of forest officials led by forest ranger Muniyandi and forest ranger Muthuraj Ranjith used a rope and finally managed to rescue the gaur after more than two hours with the help of estate workers who were called in.

More than 10 people finally got together and were able to rescue the wild gaur from the swamp.

The gaur is presently being treated by a veterinarian.
