Coimbatore: Police have arrested four youths for smuggling liquor from Tirupur to Coimbatore. 950 bottles of liquor and Rs 1 lakh were confiscated from them.
Coimbatore: District Collector GS Sameeran has opened a Community Psychological Center at the Coimbatore District Collector's Office to provide counseling on the psychological problems caused by the Coronavirus pandemic.

District Collector GS Sameeran inaugurated the Community Psychiatric Center at the Coimbatore District Collector's Office. He later said, “The control center has been set up since May 1 on behalf of the district administration to provide necessary medical and basic assistance to the people affected by the corona epidemic and isolated persons in Coimbatore district.
Individuals with corona infection should seek information on corona special treatment centers, hospital beds, corona testing, and vaccination information. Complaints related to this are being resolved by contacting the control center number 1077.
5095 calls to the Control Center regarding details of vacancies in hospitals so far, 664 calls for ambulance service, 6046 calls for corona infection test, 4988 calls for vaccination and 492 calls for e-registration, 3389 calls for other information related to corona epidemic and a total of 20 thousand 674 calls were received.

In this context, a Community Psych Counseling Center has been set up at the District Collector's Office to provide community psychological support to all residents of the Coimbatore District during the Corona outbreak. The center will be headed by two psychiatrists and will be staffed by 12 volunteers and psychologists involved in community service. Psychological counseling for corona patients and their family members, fear of the spread of corona infection, fear of vaccination, Counseling on treatment for isolated individuals in the home and psychological problems that may occur after recovering from corona infection. The center aims to provide counseling for those at home during the curfew to deal with psychological problems, including depression.

In addition, comprehensive counseling will be provided on psychological issues, social well-being, and continuous monitoring of isolated individuals at home. The public can call the Community Psychological Center every day from 9:00 am to 7.30 pm for advice on the psychological problems caused by the corona epidemic by calling 0422-2200029, 0422-2201824, 0422-2201825, 0422-2201826, 0422-2201828"
