Panchayat Union Committee members meet in Pollachi urging district administration to set up special vaccination camps for villagers
Coimbatore: A meeting of Panchayat Union Committee members was held in Pollachi South Union under the chairmanship of Union Committee Chairman, Lakshmi. Resolutions were passed on 36 essential services including drinking water, tar roads and other basic needs.
The members discussed on the steps to be taken to launch the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme as soon as possible to ensure the livelihood of the rural poor and common people, in the wake of a gradual decline in the rate of Covid-19 infections. At present the vaccine is administered only at the vaccination centers and hence villagers are forced to go to the vaccination centers. But since only 100 vaccines are administered per day, the villagers end up waiting for hours in queues and return dispappointed when there is no stock of vaccines.

The members urged the district administration to set aside additional vaccines for the Panchayats and set up vaccination centers in respective villages to ensure all are vaccinated.
