Kinathukkadavu police had arrested Suresh, the driver of a two-wheeler, who was killed in a head-on collision with a two-wheeler on the 20th June at the Kinathukkadavu Senranpalayampirivu section.
However, there were allegations that Kinnathukadavu Police Inspector Suresh and Chief Constable Venkatachalam had taken a bribe of Rs. 12,000 to release the arrested driver on bail.
Based on the complaint, this morning Kinathukadavu Police Inspector Suresh and head Constable Venkatachalam were transferred to the District Superintendent of Police Selva Nagaratnam Armed Forces.
In this regard, the Western Regional Deputy Inspector of Police Muthusamy issued a statement, Inspector Kinathukadavu police station inspector Suresh and head Constable Venkatachalam have been sacked after receiving a Rs 12,000 bail to release the driver arrested in the accident.
The incident in which a bribed police inspector and head constable were suspended for releasing an arrested person on bail has caused shock among fellow policemen.
