Coimbatore Police patrol the city intensively to clamp cannabis smuggling during lockdown period.
Coimbatore: Police in Coimbatore are conducting day and night raids due to the increasing number of cannabis and narcotics smuggling incidents during the Covid lockdown period. As part of this, police are conducting intensive vehicle checks at the Ondiputhur toll plaza within Coimbatore Singanallur police station limits.
The City Police have been alerted to prevent further smuggling and hence all vehicles entering the city are allowed into the district only after intensive checks. Locals have been relieved to see the swift action of the police to clamp down on crime.
In addition, the police are advising people to be safeguard themselves from the spread of Covid-19 by adhering to social distancing and wearing of masks. The police have also warned that stern action will be taken against those unnecessarily roaming around the city.
