Create projects that impact from womb to the tomb and save our lives: Construction and Unorganized Workers' Union writes letter to CM MK Stalin

Construction and Unorganized Workers Union writes a letter to the Chief Minister requesting projects that will aid public in every stage of life

Coimbatore: Coimbatore, Tirupur, Nilgiris District Anna Construction and Unorganized Workers Union District Secretary G.Murugesan in a letter to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin said, “The Labor Welfare Board, set up by the late former Tamil Nadu chief ministers M Karunanidhi and J Jayalalithaa on the Tamil Nadu Construction and unorganized Labor Board, has been harassing workers for the past four years.

The SSS (Social Security Scheme) Labor officer has thousands of petitions in each district that are unanswered with no action. The petitions of the violators are being sent back without any proper reason. Uneducated workers are severely affected by the lack of a way to appeal. Many thousands of applications are pending from the SSS Labor Officer for applications submitted under Section 11 to 17A of the above scheme to provide various welfare benefits including pension, accident compensation and natural death to the construction workers in the Tamil Nadu Construction Unorganised Workers Welfare Board in 1994. "

The letter urged that "This government must put an end to the indifference of the Labor Welfare Officers to the negligence of the government which has been in power for the last four years. The applications for welfare assistance must be numbered by date and investigated and the allowance must be paid within a specified period. The law should be amended to appeal against the rejection of concessions under Sections 11 to 17A. In order to appeal, the Government must appoint one of the two Commissioners of Labor and the Associate Commissioner of Labor in the respective district as the authority.

The welfare scheme of the workers can be saved only by amending the specific Construction Workers Welfare Scheme in 1994. Therefore, we request the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu to take appropriate action on their behalf with mercy."
