Resolutions uploaded on Corporation's website following nitiatives by social activist: Corporation Commissioner
Coimbatore: Raja Gopal Sunkara, who has recently taken over as the new Corporation Commissioner of Coimbatore, has been requested to upload the resolutions passed in the Coimbatore Corporation since 2017. Based on that, the resolutions are being uploaded on the corporation website.
The Coimbatore Corporation has been requesting for more than 10,000 resolutions passed in the last 4 years from July 2017 to be uploaded on the Corporation's website. In this connection, a case filed by social activist RTI Thiyagarajan in the High Court is pending. A case is pending in the court on behalf of the contractors that the corporation resolutions should not be uploaded on the internet.
In these two cases, the court did not issue any restraining order and on the 15th, social activist Thiyagarajan again petitioned the corporation commissioner Raja Gopal Sunkara to upload the corporation's resolutions on the internet. Following this, 191 resolutions from July 19, 2017 to January 29, 2018, passed by the Corporation have been uploaded on the Corporation website. It states that no resolutions were passed in September 2017.
Social activist Thiyagarajan said, "Resolutions requiring those who have been in charge as corporation commissioners in the last several years have not been registered on the internet. We thank the new corporation commissioner for taking immediate action and uploading the remaining resolutions online."
