24 missing children rescued: Authorities act with swift investigation
Coimbatore: Special female officers assigned to investigate cases of missing persons in Coimbatore have rescued 24 minors. In total, there are 40 police stations in Coimbatore district.
There were various problems in investigating the cases of missing persons registered here. To find the missing persons, special female officers were appointed on behalf of the District Police Department. With the exception of three women police stations, one special female officer was assigned to each of the 35 police stations. Thus, the cases registered against the missing persons for the last two months have been resolved quickly.
Of the 72 cases reported last April, 42 cases have been settled. Of the 22 cases registered as missing, 14 were closed. Of the 41 cases filed in May, 33 have been resolved and amongst the 12 cases registered 10 children were rescued.
Coimbatore District ADSP, Suhasini said, “The case is being swiftly investigated due to the appointment of special officers. A special WhatsApp group has been set up for this purpose. Neighboring district police are also contacted to complete the tasks quickly. We also provide counseling for rescued children."
