Man arrested for selling an elderly man's house and cheating him by promising to build a new house for him
Coimbatore: Police have arrested and jailed an man who allegedly swindled an elderly man by buying a house in his name, claiming that he can receive funds from the central government to build a house for him near Coimbatore.
Masakavundar 81, owns a house worth 50 lakhs at, Vellanaipatti in a 4 cents land in Coimbatore. Charles 44, a health worker from Kannampalayam, met Masa Kavundar and said he would get a grant of two lakh rupees if he took a loan from the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme. He asked the elderly man to write him a deed for this. Believing this to be true, Masakavundar signed the deed.
Following this, Charles sold the house to Sudha 43, a resident of Kannamapalyam. In the document, they wrote that they had given a check for 13 lakh rupees to Masa Kavundar. Sudha subsequently mortgaged the house and obtained a loan from a bank. When Masa kavundar came to know about this, he lodged a complaint with the district criminal police. Arokiadas and Sudha were arrested and remanded in custody by the police.
