Doctors in Pollachi wore black badges to protest along with IMA in demanding passing of Doctors Protection Act
Coimbatore: Incidents of attack on doctors and frontline workers are on the rise in various states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Doctors across the country staged a one-day symbolic protest on Friday condemning the attack on doctors who have risked their lives during the Coronavirus pandemic.
As part of the protest, doctors wearing black badges on behalf of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) also protested in Pollachi. During the reign of former Chief Minister Karunanidhi, the Government issued and implemented a formal order to prevent violence and material damage against the medical sector. Doctors have therefore urged the Central Government to immediately bring in the Doctors Safety Act to prevent attacks on doctors and ensure safety of doctors and hospitals.
