'Nei Milagai' season begins in Coonoor; Farmers overjoyed at procuring price of Rs. 200 per kg.
The Nilgiris: 'Nei Milagai' season is currently in full swing in the surrounding villages of Coonoor in Nilgiris district. 'Nei Milagai' is especially grown in temperate climates such as Nilgiris, Yercaud and Munnar and is known for its spicy flavour.
This chilly has medicinal properties and is cultivated in Soladamattam near Coonoor and Alakkarai area. The chilli is known to cure gastritis and bac- related issues.

Farmers are overjoyed that at present the chilly's procurement price is available at Rs. 200 rupees per kilo. "If the Horticulture Department takes appropriate action to increase the yield, there will be additional profit," they added.
