All cases filed against Govt. employees and teachers who fought for various demands during AIADMK regime cancelled
Coimbatore: All cases filed against teachers and Government employees involved in the strike in 2019, in Coimbatore district have been cancelled.
In 2019, from January 22 to 29, a series of strikes and protests took place as 'Jakto-Jio,' a federation of teachers and civil servants joined forces to emphasize various demands. Following this, disciplinary action, transfers and arrests were made against the Jakto-Jio workers involved in the struggle. The then Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy had announced last February that disciplinary action against those involved in the Jakto-Jio struggle would be cancelled. Based on this, orders have been issued in various districts of Tamil Nadu to cancel the action against teachers and Government employees.
In Coimbatore district, 12 teachers were arrested for engaging in protests. A notice was also sent seeking clarification on departmental action against 14 people. Later in Coimbatore too, orders were given to cancel action against teachers and Government employees.
The District Education Officer has issued an order cancelling the proceedings against Kalveerampalayam Primary School Headmaster Mahalakshmi, Kalambalaiyam Middle School teacher C Arasu and Thirumalayampalayam Middle School Headmaster Manikandan. Education Department officials are now issuing orders to cancel proceedings against teachers in Pollachi and S S Kulam.
