Heavy rains in Valparai: Sholayar Dam rises 15 feet in one day


Coimbatore: Heavy rains have been lashing Valparai in the last week. The water levels have risen in dams in Valparai due to the rainfall. Valparai received 78 mm of rainfall, Sholayar Dam received 92 mm, Nirar Dam received 77 mm and Chinnakallar received 102 mm of rainfall.



The maximum rainfall of 10.2 cm was recorded at Chinnakallar. The water supply to Sholayar Dam is 5408.33 cubic feet per second and the water level of the dam is 3295.00 cubic feet. The water balance of the dam is 1936.42 TMC water. The height of the dam is 165 feet and the water level is 80.30 feet. The Sholayar Dam has raised 15 feet of water in a single day.
