Lab quality in Coimbatore Government Hospital improved: 3 additional PCR provided by ICMR
Coimbatore: The Biological Laboratory at Coimbatore Government Hospital was set up by the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR) of India during the first wave of the last coronavirus infection.
Following this, permission was granted to the laboratory operating at the Coimbatore Government Hospital to test for coronavirus infection after the Chennai Kings organisation in Tamil Nadu. Currently 2500 to 3000 coronavirus samples are being tested daily here. ICMR has upgraded the quality of lab at CMCH based on the number of tests being done and its quality
The Chief Analyst of the Government Hospital Virus Research and Diagnosis Laboratory said, "At present the Government Hospital Virus Research and Diagnosis Laboratory has 4 PCR instruments and 36 NA Extractor Equipment. Now it has been upgraded to 3 more PCR provided on behalf of ICMR. This would increase the number of tests to 4,500."
