Couple donate Rs. 37 lakhs saved for their marriage expenses toward COVID-19 relief in Tirupur
Tirupur: Arulselvam is a businessman from Tirupur whose second son Arul Pranesh was engaged to be married to Anu, the daughter of Gowrishankar and Kavita, a couple from Tirupur belonging to Vikas Vidyalaya and Vidyasagar Group.

Their marriage was held on June 14 at the Kangayam-Vattamalai Angalamman temple in a simple manner owing to Covid-19 preventive measures.
Since the wedding was low-cost, the bride and groom decided to donate the money saved for their wedding to charity. Of the funds set aside for the wedding, Rs. 37.66 lakhs has been donated to various charities. The groom's father has also generously announced that he would add to the charity amount to round off the donations to Rs, 50 lakhs, as soon as possible.
As soon the marriage ceremony was completed. over Rs. 5 lakhs was donated to Rotary Coronavirus Care Center opposite Government Hospital, Rs.11 lakhs to Corona Center at Perundurai Medical College Hospital Campus, Rs. 2 lakhs for a nursing home to be constructed on behalf of the Punchai Puliyampatti Rotary Club, Rs. 7.66 lakhs for setting up of an ICU unit for the treatment center at Palladam in the premises of the Government Hospital on behalf of Tirupur North Rotary Club and Rs. 7 lakhs for eight families who were unable to cope with Covid medical expenses. The couple have thus far generously donated Rs. 37.66 lakhs toward Covid-19 relief.

Various parties, friends and families have lauded the couple for donating their savings to various organisations spearheading Covid-19 welfare projects.
