Coimbatore received 78 metric tons of oxygen thus far for Covid-19 treatment
Coimbatore: In Coimbatore district, there are 1,979 oxygen beds in hospitals and Government primary health centers which includes the Coimbatore Government Hospital the ESI Hospital. In the Coronavirus makeshift treatment centers including the CODISSIA campus, there are 465 oxygen beds and the private hospitals have 3,035 oxygen beds.
About 3,500 people are currently being treated with oxygen facilities both in Government and private hospitals. Oxygen is being brought to Coimbatore by rail containers from the northern states so that Covid-19 patients can receive adequate supply of the required oxygen, without any shortage.
77.78 metric tons of oxygen arrived in Coimbatore from Rourkela, Orissa on Wednesday, on a train that had four containers and it was sent by container lorries to different places in Coimbatore. Tamil Nadu has received 5434.14 metric tons of oxygen thus far.
