G S Sameeran takes charge as the new District Collector of Coimbatore at the Collectorate today
Coimbatore: The State Government transferred a host of IAS officers including 11 District Collectors to various other posts on Sunday.
According to the Government order issued on Sunday, the Coimbatore Collector S Nagarajan has been transferred and posted as Commissioner of Land Administration, while Tenkasi Collector G S Sameeran has been posted as the Coimbatore Collector.
G S Sameeran took charge as the new Coimbatore Collector at the Collectorate office on Wednesday. Former District Collector Nagarajan handed over the relevant documents to G S Sameeran.
The new Collector addressed the media saying he was very happy to be the new District Collector of Coimbatore. He added that various measures would be taken to reduce Covid-19 infections in Coimbatore district and bring the infection rate to ground level.
G S Sameeran said, "The numbers have come down from 4,000 last month to 1,500 due to the Chief Minister's stringent Covid control measures. The people of Coimbatore have also cooperated in this. I would also like to ask for the continued cooperation of the public. With the current scarcity in vaccination in rural areas, we are ensuring vaccination would be extended to all as soon as possible."
