"Even If you cannot do good, do not do harm to the elderly" - Shantalinga Marudasala Adigalar on 'Elder Abuse Awareness Day'
Coimbatore: Shantalinga Marudasala Adigalar said, "It is okay not to do good to the elderly and not to cause harm.
We have to keep the elderly comfortably with honour. In the next decade, 40 percent of the world's population will be over 60 years of age. At that age, the number of people who maintain self-employment, strength, and finances will be very low. To change this situation, today'Elder Abuse Awareness Day' is being celebrated."
He added, "Globally, the elderly face many problems, both physically, mentally and economically. Thus it is our duty to adjust to the challenges they face. Today emphasizes the need for philanthropists, local organizations, governments and well-wishers around the world to work together to reduce the incidence of violence against the elderly. It is not right to send our precious parents to some place but must make them stay with us. They should not be abused physically or mentally.
Even if they do not do good to the elderly, they should not cause harm. Keep the elderly in good condition, introduce them to those who come home and tell them about their achievements. It is everyone's duty. to create the appropriate environment."
