Toddy brewing in Pollachi - Alcohol Prohibition police used drone cameras to monitor the forest on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border.
Coimbatore: The Alcohol prohibition police used a drone camera to monitor whether illegal brewing of liquor was taking place in the foothills of the Semmanampathy Tamil Nadu-Kerala border next to Pollachi.
Tasmac stores were closed due to lockdown in Tamil Nadu. The government has given permission to open Tasmac stores from today in other districts but Tasmac stores have not been allowed to open in Coimbatore district due to the high number of cases.
Liquor stores in Kerala have been closed due to the complete curfew. Police received a tip-offthat illegal liquor is being brewed near the forest at Semmanampathy on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border next to Pollachi.
Following this, police including Inspector Balamurugan and Assistant Inspectors Chinnakkamanan led by Alcohol Prohibition DSP Sundarraj were engaged in surveillance of the forest area in Semmanampathy area with the help of drone cameras.
It was then revealed that no illegal liquor had been brewed in the area and said patrols will continue in the Pollachi area of the Coimbatore district on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border. Alcohol Prohibition police said action would be taken against those involved in illegal activities.
