Construction materials must be brought under the essential law to curb the rise in prices: Construction and non-organizational labor union urge CM MK Stalin

Coimbatore: The construction unions are in aggreived as the prices of construction materials in Tamil Nadu have been skyrocketing for the past four years due to the action of handful of mafias and that the livelihoods of more than two crore construction and unorganized workers is now under threat.

In a statement, Murugesan, general secretary of the Anna Construction and Non-Organizational Workers of Coimbatore, Nilgiris and Tirupur districts said, “The chief minister must take action to rescue Tamil Nadu from the economic crisis and strengthen the construction and real estate sectors to protect the livelihoods of millions of workers.

In Tamil Nadu, for the last four years, a few mafias have been increasing the prices of construction materials for no apparent reason and looting profits. The employment of Anna Construction and Non-Organizational Workers has been snatched away due to the substantial increase in the price of materials without any reason as there is no one to question the irregularities in the building plan approval and bond. Thus their livelihood has been severely affected."

He added saying, "Chief Minister Stalin must realise this and as stated in his election manifesto must bring construction and real estate sectors under Essential Law. This will resolve the glitches in the deeds and the architectural drawbacks, and the defects in the approval of the Commercial Complex, the factory and the flats as announced and that approval will be granted in '60 days Window'. The regime has been fulfilling its promises one by one since the day it took office.

More than 100 companies that depend on the construction industry request CM MK Stalin to fulfill the above request and you act quickly to protect the welfare of the workers and the livelihoods of more than two crore construction and non-organised workers."
