Swearing in ceremony of 66 young soldiers was held today at the Madras Regiment Center in Coonoor.
The Nilgiris: At the Wellington Army Camp near Coonoor, military training is being imparted to youth from the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
The trainees will be sent to camps in border areas of India to provide security. Of the soldiers who completed 46 weeks of training, 66 took the oath of office to complete their training and serve as soldiers.
After completing their training, the soldiers took the oath of allegiance to the Bhagavad Gita, the Bible, the Quran and other sacred texts, as well as the national flag. The event was attended by Brigadier Rajeshwar Singh, Commander of the Wellington Army, who praised the soldiers who excelled during the training. The families and visitors of the soldiers were not allowed in due to the Coronavirus spread.
