Training commences for native dogs in the police force in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Trained dogs play an important role in detecting criminals in the police force. There are coaches and specialized units for this purpose. The role of these detective dogs is enormous, before the time of cell phones especially to find people involved in a variety of crimes, beginning with the murder. That is why it is buried with royal honors even after its service period and even after death along with pensions etc. Similarly trained dogs were used to detect crimes in the forest for the last 26 years and it later became unnecessary. It was at this point that they planned to use dogs trained in the forest in the Coimbatore division.
In addition, foreign dogs such as German Shepherd, Dalmatian, Labrador, Tamil Nadu dogs such as Sippiparai, Gombai hunting dogs are talented. Studies have also shown that Sippiparai dogs are able to detect people with Covid-19. But many still love foreign dog breeds.
But the truth is that foreigners are amazed to see our native dogs. The forest department has planned to use the native dogs of Tamil Nadu and has added the native dogs, Sippiparai. Accordingly, 4 dogs have been attached to the forest department as one dog for Coimbatore Boluvampatti Wildlife Sanctuary and one dog each for Azhiyar Wildlife Sanctuary and Gudalur and Nilgiris. The native dogs are being specially trained.
Training has been provided to detect if ganja is being cultivated in the forest and to detect poaching and smuggling of sandalwood. A trainer and an assistant trainer are assigned to a dog. For these Sippiparai dogs, the authorities have given them Tamil names. The dog in Coimbatore has a beautiful Tamil name as Valavan. Forest Officer Senthil said that these efforts were made to prevent forest crimes and catch criminals in the forest
Officer said, "We have given beautiful Tamil names for this and we have named the dog in Coimbatore as Valavan. Valavan means one who is brave and trustworthy like the right hand. Similarly, we have named the dogs in other areas as Kaduvan, Kalingan and Akavai."
He said that special trainers have been appointed for this force and hoped that this would help in detecting forest crimes and reduce forest crime. Valavan's trainer Manikandan said that he had been training Valavan for the last 4 months since Valavan was a puppy on forest robbers and to sniff out the culprits if they were cultivating ganja or smuggling sandalwood.
