Demand for incentives for all frontline staff and including sanitary staff
Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Annal Ambedkar Sanitary Workers and Public Employees Union has urged the government to take action by providing incentives for frontline work to all cleaners.
The general secretary of the association, Selvam, said, 'As the coronavirus in Tamil Nadu is in full swing, the sanitary workers are on the forefront of preventive measures, removing the daily rubbish of infected people on the infected streets and spraying disinfectants. They start work early in the morning and take steps to protect people from coronavirus infection without fear of contracting the disease. It is learned that high-ranking officials have said that health cleaners engaged in such activities need not be added for the incentive list. This makes them unsatisfied and there distrust among the sanitary staff. Therefore, the Government of Tamil Nadu should take steps to provide incentives for all sanitary workers.'
