Coimbatore Youth Congress protests in front of petrol pump in Uppilipalyam against Central BJP government for rising fuel prices
Coimbatore: Even as petrol prices soared to a record high of Rs. 100 per litre, the Tamil Nadu Congress leader K S Alagiri announced that protests would be held in front of petrol pumps all across Tamil Nadu condemning the central BJP government for not controlling the price hike.
In accordance to the announcement made by the All India Congress Committee Chairman, Sonia Gandhi, a protest was held in front of the Uppilipalayam Petrol bunk led by the Tamil Nadu Youth Congress State Coordinator Hariharasudan condemning the Central Government for raising petrol and diesel prices. The event was attended by Imayam Rahmatullah, Samsudeen, Johnson, Sikander Dhanapal, Arun, Manikandan and others.
The protesters raised slogans that the BJP had failed to control fuel prices. In a unique form of protest, the cadres paid floral tribute to two-wheelers and raised slogans condemning the Central Government for the price hike.
Fuel prices have been on the rise 43 times this past year alone. With these unprecedented fuel price hikes, gas cylinders and other household goods and essentials have also risen. The Youth Congress accused the Central Government of failing to control such price hikes.
