Eight people arrested in double murder case charged under Goondas act: District Collector orders
Coimbatore: Anantha Kumar, a ganja dealer from Bharathipuram area next to Sulur, Coimbatore, and his cousin Vasantha Kumar, a resident of Gaggan nagar, Singanallur, were involved in a dispute over ganja sales.
On the day of the incident, Ananthakumar went to Vasanthakumar's house and got involved in a dispute. Following this, Vasanthakumar's friends went to Anantha Kumar's house along with two people including Maheshkumar and got into a heated argument. During the clash, Anandan and his sons Satish Kumar and Saravanan attacked Vasantha Kumar and his friends with weapons including knives.
Vasantha Kumar died on the spot. Maheshkumar was admitted to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Following this, the Sulur police registered a case against 8 persons and remanded them in custody. Coimbatore District SP Selva Nagaratnam had recommended to the District Collector to take action against them under the Goondas Act as there are various cases against them.
Saravanan (23), Satish Kumar (21), Anandan (47), Harikrishnan (24), Prabhu (23), Dinesh (20), Aswin (17) and Srinath (21) were also booked under the Goondas Act. As per District Collector Nagaraj's orders the Sulur Police arrested 8 persons under the Goondas Act.
