Municipalities need equipment including oxygen meters to diagnose the disease - Pollachi Collector requests volunteers to help.
Coimbatore: As the Covid-19 cases rise in the rural areas of Coimbatore district, Pollachi Sub-Collector Vaithiyanathan has been appointed as the Special Monitoring Officer for Municipalities in Coimbatore District to control the spread of the disease in the municipal areas. Following this, temporary staff have been appointed in 37 municipalities in Coimbatore district to conduct door-to-door inspections to check whether the public is affected by coronavirus disease. There has been a shortage of supplies, including oxymeters and body temperature testing equipment.
A consultative meeting was held today at the Pollachi Sub-Collector's Office for volunteers chaired by Pollachi Sub-Collector Vaithiyanathan. Speaking at the consultation meeting, the Sub-Collector said that all the 37 municipalities in Coimbatore district need equipment including 3000 oxygen meters and thermometers to diagnose the disease. Two volunteers, Chandrasekhar and Raveendran from Coimbatore, donated 100 oximeters. He appealed to volunteers to help as more tools are needed to start work immediately.
