Youth killed in an elephant attack in Nilgiris
The Nilgiris: Rajkumar, a 26-year-old son of Adivasi Irular Ramasamy (Late), a resident of Semmanarai Adivasi village in Kotagiri area of the Nilgiris district, was tragically killed when he was attacked by a wild elephant.

Rajkumar belongs to the Irular tribe and lives in the tribal village of Kotagiri Semmanara in the Nilgiris district. He was on his way to his house in Semmanarai after visiting the temple in Thalamokkai when he was attacked by a wild elephant which was hidden in a bush.

Rajkumar was seriously injured in the head and hips and died on the spot. Forest officials seized the body and took it to Kotagiri Government Hospital for autopsy.

The first phase of compensation of Rs. 50,000 was given to Rajkumar's family on behalf of the Kotagiri Forest Department. The incident in which a youth was killed by an elephant has caused grief among the tribal people.
