Vehicle with sanitary staff meets with accident near Coimbatore; 2 killed and 8 injured
Coimbatore: One person was killed on the spot when a vehicle carrying sanitary staff returning home from work toppled near Coimbatore.
Eight of the staff who sustained grievous injuries were rushed to the Coimbatore Government Hospital but one succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.
Police said at around 1.40 pm, nine sanitary staff from the Vampatti panchayat had completed their work for the day and were traveling in a battery car provided as transport to them.

Palani (72) of Valluvar Road, Ikkaraiboluvampatti died on the spot even as the car toppled. Others were rushed to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment but Palanisamy (50), son of Maruthan of Gandhi Colony, Chemmedu, died on the way to the hospital.
Raju(50), Marimuthu (55), Ammasai (65), Selvi (50), Marimuthu (55), Kamalam (65) and Arukkani (55) from Chemmedu were injured in the accident.
