Coimbatore: "Those who did not get a chance to contest in the recent assembly elections are acting in a way that brings disrepute to the party," allege DMK volunteers who expect Chief Minister M K Stalin to take swift action against them.
Coimbatore: DMK volunteers are calling out party cadres for bringing disrepute to the party due to a sour attitude for not being given a chance to contest in the recently concluded assembly elections.
The DMK volunteers requested Chief Minister M K Stalin to take swift action against such cadres in the party who are reportedly forming a separate team of their own because they did not get an opportunity to contest in the last elections. The volunteers felt that such DMK cadres discred the party by their sour attitude.
The DMK and its allies lost all 10 assembly constituencies in Coimbatore district in the recent elections. Those who did not get a chance to contest the election reportedly worked against the DMK during the election campaign. It is reported that contesting candidates had not been able to pay much attention to these petty squabbles during election time. In spite of the rout for DMK in Coimbatore district, the party went on to form the Government with a thumping majority, led by M K Stalin.
Meanwhile, amidst the ravage by the second wave of Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu, with Coimbatore district being the second worst hit after Chennai, newly appointed Chief Minister M K Stalin has been working diligently to provide various welfare assistance and medical facilities to all the people in Coimbatore district. For this purpose, he has appointed ministers and special officers, and also courageously visited Coimbatore several times. The TN Chief Minister even interacted with Covid patients at ESI Hospital's Covid treatment unit and also reassured doctors, nurses and medical staff of complete support.
In spite of all the good work that the DMK-led government has been doing, those who did not get a chance to contest the elections earlier have reportedly begun to engage in activities that discredits the party. This has caused a major setback to the party's growth in Coimbatore district.
Some of the disruptive activities of the sour DMK cadres were evident last week in Coimbatore district. There have been many incidents reported of people going to vaccination camps, forcibly buying tokens and giving them to those who can pay them, arguing with doctors and Corporation officials and intimidating people.
The DMK volunteers warned their leader and CM M K Stalin that with such cadres bringing disrepute to the party, the DMK could end up disappointed in the forthcoming local body elections in Coimbatore district. They urged the Chief Minister to immediately conduct a detailed inquiry into the infighting and irregularities in DMK in Coimbatore district and take stern action against DMK cadres who indulge in activities that defame the party so as to foster confidence among the people.
