Police confiscate ration rice that was being sold illegally in a van: Driver who selling ration rice fled
Coimbatore: Police received a tip-off that a man was selling ration rice in a van on Mariappan Thevar Road near Sulur on Tuesday evening.
Following this, the police led by Sulur Police Inspector Murugesan went to the spot and inspected it. Rice Raja, who was selling rice, saw the police coming to the spot, left the rice with the van and fled.
The police confiscated 36 sacks (1870) kg of ration rice and the van was brought to the Sulur police station. Sinru (31), the owner of the van, and Dinesh (23), the driver of the van, were arrested by the Sulur police and are being investigated.
The Sulur police have registered a case in this regard and are looking for the accused Rice Raja. Sulur police inspector Murugesan said the rice and van will be sent to the civil supply control room in Pollachi.
