Measures are being taken to curb the Covid pandemic in 228 village panchayats in Coimbatore district. As part of this, a Corona Infection Monitoring Committee has been set up comprising Village Panchayat President, Panchayat Secretary, Village Administrative Officer, Village Health Nurse and guards appointed by the District Superintendent of Police. Meanwhile, Regional Zonal Officers and Regional Development Officers are also actively conducting house-to-house Covid survey work with team members.
The Committee has also set up a Corona Treatment Center at the village panchayat level. 3,000 bed facilities have been made available in 228 panchayats. A district administration official said, "Covid infections have been confirmed and those who cannot be isolated at home are being treated at the center. Food is provided to those who come to this treatment center. We are conducting intensive monitoring among crowded gatherings in villages to check if Government guidelines are being adhered to, at marriages and funerals."
