These three wild elephants entered a residential area at Iyer Badi Paralai Estate near Valparai in Coimbatore district and destroyed the walls, doors and windows of a house belonging to John David, Indira and Palaniyammal. People in te neighbourhood chased the wild elephants away.
Later, the wild elephants reportedly stomped into the nearby primary school campus and destroyed the windows of the canteen in the campus. Later, the elephants reportedly demolished the perimeter wall of the school and had to be chased away by tea plantation guards.
The public immediately informed the forest department since the elephants were camping in the area and not returning to the forest. Forest officials rushed to the spot and chased the elephants back into the forest, and are also closely patrolling the area.
