"Tenure of Ayurvedic doctors hired during first wave of Coronavirus extended:" Minister M Subramaniam
Coimbatore: The tenure of Ayurvedic doctors who were hired during the first wave of the Coronavirus pandemic has been extended.
Minister M Subramaniam briefed the media after a review meeting at the Coonoor Pasteur Institute saying additional doctors would be hired if needed. Minister M Subramaniam consulted with officials at the Pasteur Laboratory which manufactures anti-rabies medicines in Coonoor to check if Covid vaccines could be produced there. He also inspected Covid-19 prevention activities in Nilgiris district.
He was accompanied by Health Secretary Radhakrishnan and the District Collector. The Minister also announced that the tenure of Ayurvedic doctors who were hired during the first wave of Covid-19 has been extended.
The Minister also said that additional doctors would be hired if needed, and that there would be no need for Coronavirus prevention ayurvedic medicines made in Andhra Pradesh since Tamil Nadu is world-renowned for its Ayurveda and Unani medical treatment practices. Later, Health Secretary Radhakrishnan also warned that stern action was being taken against hospitals violating Covid rules and action had already been taken against 40 hospitals.
"Action has been taken against five RTPCRs test centres that charged extra and 19 hospitals that did not implement the Chief’s Medicare plan. In addition, action has also been taken against two ambulances that charged extra for transporting patients," he detailed.
"There is no shortage of oxygen in Tamil Nadu and 921 people have been affected by black fungus. 30,000 doses of the Black fungus medicine are needed. We are requesting the Central Government for the medicine and 1790 doses have arrived. We are giving it to those who need intensive treatment. A special treatment unit has been set up at the Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, Omandurai Hospital, Chennai. Treatment units will be set up in all Government College Hospitals.
A team of 13 medical professionals has been set up to find alternative medicine and alternative therapies for black fungus. The report of the Committee will be submitted to the Chief Minister as soon as it is received. Siddha and Ayurveda and Indian medicine treatment centers have been set up in 62 places in the past one month. Unani treatment was opened at Vaniyambadi. Government promotes Siddha, along with Allopathy and Unani. We are also initiating action to study whether the vaccine could be manufactured at the Coonoor Pasteur Laboratory," stated the Health Secretary .
