With vaccine scarcity already in place, bizzare scenario of beneficiaries not receiving vaccinated certificates continues in Coimbatore, leaving them confused
Coimbatore: Mageshwari, 32, visited the Primary health care center in Somanur to vaccinate her parents with second dose of Covishield, to protect against the corona virus. She also visited there on May 26th to vaccinate herself as the state government had opened vaccination drive for people above 18plus.
The Sulur resident Mageshwari who is also an IT employee was eager and was waiting patiently in a queue of more than 150 people who had turned to inoculate themselves. However, her excitement was short lived as she didn’t receive any certificate or confirmation message for her to have taken first dose. She was inoculated with Covishield, one of the vaccines approved by the government and produced by AstraZeneca in Serum institute of India.
Consoling herself that it might take few days to get the certificate due to certain issues, Mageshwari says that she had not received any messages too, even after more than six days.
It has been more than six days that I’m awaiting for the confirmation message and certificate from the government for having taken my jab, she told.
“I was not given any OP (out patient) sheet too while vaccinating. Not just me, all our names, who had turned up for vaccination were written in a note book without giving back any sheets or even tokens. Our names, phone numbers and Aadhar card details were taken before vaccinating. However, we didn’t receive any messages”, Mageshwari said.
Completely flummoxed, Mageshwari says she is worried that she can not be able to travel abroad without getting confirmation certificates once the restrictions are released.
However, when she tried contacting the staffs there, she was informed that the reason for it was due to absent of staff who was responsible to update the information on the site.
“When i enquired a staff there I was told in return that the staff responsible for updating information have gone to her native place which is why i was not given any certificate”.
However, Mageshwari is not alone as similar such incidents were reported in Coimbatore earlier.
Residents from Singanallur, Saibaba colony, Marudhamalai and Vadavalli have also went through the same.
But one thing that joints all of them here is that they all have vaccinated in PHC’s in rural sides of Coimbatore. It looks like that there are no proper systematic standards are in place in these rural PHC’s.
But in the case of Marudhmalai resident, L.K. Moorthi, it is quite different. He had taken his jab on March 1 and however given certificate saying he had taken his jab on March 4th.
He was shocked to hear that his appointment for second dose got canceled but managed to schedule to get his second dose at Kalveerampalayam PHC on 27th April.
Unable to visit the PHC on that day, Murthi says he was even more shocked to read the message that said he was vaccinated with second dose. He even got the certificate for it.
Him requesting to know the reason was also not met by the staffs and officials and thus he had rescheduled his date again to May 25th to take his second dose.
A number of attempts to reach officials within corporation limit and health department by Simplicity failed to get an answer.
