Chief Minister praises nurse who rescued infants in Kasturbai Gandhi Hospital fire
Coimbatore: Chief Minister MK Stalin called on Jayakumar, a nurse who saved the lives of infants and mothers during the fire at the Kasturbai Gandhi Maternity Hospital.
The press release of the Government of Tamil Nadu is as follows:
'On the night of 26.5.2021, there was a sudden fire on the second floor of the Kasturbai Gandhi Maternity Hospital in Tiruvallikeni, Chennai. In that room 36 infants were treated in the incubator and 47 mothers with 11 infants were present.
Jayakumar, a nurse on duty there, broke the window panes and extinguished the fire with fire extinguishers. Before the firefighters arrived, he acted quickly and extinguished the fire, saving the lives of the children and mothers who were being treated there.
Aware of the incident, Chief Minister Stalin summoned Nurse Jayakumar to his office todayand praised his work.'
During the meeting, Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan and Hindu Religious and Charitable Affairs Minister P.K. Sekarbabu MLA Udayanithi Stalin, nurse Jayakumar, his wife Nurse Devika and his children were present.
