Oxygen is being procured by trains from various states to alleviate the medical oxygen shortage in Tamil Nadu.


Coimbatore: The first installment of 29.24 MT of liquid oxygen was brought to Coimbatore by rail on the 20th.

The second installment of 19.54 MT of oxygen was brought to Coimbatore from Odisha on the 23rd with 2 tanker trucks. On the 27th, 89.28 tonnes of 6 tanker lorries reached Madukkarai in the 3rd installment and 65.34 MT of oxygen in the 4th installment on the 31st.

In the 5th installment, 32.28 MT of oxygen was unloaded from Madukkarai railway station in 2 tanker lorries and taken to the oxygen production station at Ganapathy with heavy police security. It is then sent to hospitals from there. Railway officials said, a total of 235.68 MT of oxygen has arrived in Coimbatore so far.
