200 saplings planted at Sri Krishna Technical College to mark Kalaignar Karunanidhi's birthday
Coimbatore: On behalf of Coimbatore Forest Reserve, Madukkarai Wildlife Sanctuary and Sri Krishna Technical College in Coimbatore, 200 saplings were planted on the college premises to mark the birthday of the late Chief Minister Kalainar Karunanidhi.
A statement issued on behalf of the college administration said, “The 98th birthday of the late former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Karunanidhi was celebrated on behalf of the Coimbatore Forest Reserve, Madukkarai Wildlife Sanctuary and Sri Krishna Technical College in Coimbatore.
200 saplings were planted on the college campus in memory of Kalaignar Karunanidhi. Saplings were planted at the event under the leadership of S. Malarvizhi, Executive Trustee of Educational Societies, and Senthilkumar, Assistant Forest Ranger, Vanakkottam, Coimbatore."
Dr. K. Sundararaman, Chief Executive Officer of Sri Krishna Educational Societies, Dr. Srinivasan Alavandar, Principal of the College, Forest Officer, Executive Officer of the College and others participated.
Various types of trees including neem, pungan and mahogany were planted. The college administration has decided not only to plant saplings but also to maintain them. On the college campus, saplings planted in memory of the late former President of India Abdul Kalam and celebrities including the late actor Vivek have been maintained and fully grown.
