Meteorological Department warns of heavy rains for 4 days in 10 districts including Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: Lightning and thundershowers have been forecasted at Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Erode and Salem districts and light to moderate showers at Namakkal, Erode, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Karur and Dindigul districts. Cuddalore, Pondicherry, Karaikal, Mayiladuthurai and Nagapattinam districts are expected to receive light rain.

The Chennai Meteorological Department has warned that dry weather will prevail in most of the other districts. On June 3, heavy rain with thunderstorms is expected in Erode, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni and Dindigul districts. Moderate rain is expected at a few places in Cuddalore, Pondicherry, Karaikal, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam and other parts of the district.

On June 4 and 5 light to moderate rain with thundershowers are expected at few places in Pondicherry and Karaikal areas of Tamil Nadu and thundershowers at a few places in Theni, Dindigul, Salem, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Tirupati, Vellore and Ranipet districts. On June 6 light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in a few places in the inner districts of Tamil Nadu. Light showers are likely at one or two places in the coastal districts and Pondicherry, Karaikal.

Temperatures forecast for the next 24 hours in Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Karur, Dharmapuri, Cuddalore, Pondicherry, Villupuram and Tiruvannamalai districts. For Chennai, the sky will be partly cloudy for the next 48 hours. The maximum temperature is 38 and the minimum temperature is 28 degrees Celsius. Similarly, strong winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kmph are expected on June 2 and 3 at southern coastal areas of Sri Lanka.
