Notorious rowdy booked under Goondas Act in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: A notorious rowdy who has been involved in murder attempt and theft in Coimbatore has been jailed and charged under the Goondas Act.
There are 13 cases including theft and attempted murder at the Chennai and Coimbatore police stations against Dhananjayan alias Thotti Jaya (34), from Telugupalayampudur in Coimbatore.
The Saravanampatti police station too has 7 cases pending against him. Last April, when a man identified asDharmalingam was killed in Vadavalli burial ground in Coimbatore, Dhananjayan was arrested in connection with the murder after an investigation conducted by the Vadavalli police. They were later lodged in Coimbatore Central Jail.
The police recommended to the Superintendent that Dhananjayan who has been continuing to commit crimes needs to be held under the Goondas Act. Following this, his arrest was ordered under the Goondas Act, on Wednesday. A copy of the order was handed over by the police to the authorities at the Coimbatore Central Jail today.
