Vehicles violating complete lockdown rules were seized by the police in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: In spite of the Tamil Nadu Government imposing a complete lockdown across the State to control the spread of Coronavirus infections and granting permission to people only to step out for medical emergencies, locals in Coimbatore continue to use excuses like visiting relatives' homes and buying groceries to subtly violate the lockdown rules.
Though vehicles need e-registration or e-pass to move around for specific reasons, police have had to confiscate many vehicles of motorists who use lame excuses for roaming around. Motorists who register with the administration are allowed to move around the city only after verifying documents. Police Sub-Inspector Jebakumar, led by the Inspector of Kinathukadavu conducted intensive surveillance at Kinathukadavu bus stand, R S Road, Kovilpalayam, Thamaraikulam and Veerappagoundanur check post.
"Though the Tamil Nadu Government has declared a complete lockdown to curb Coronavirus, many people are stepping out unnecessarily on their two wheelers and more than a hundred vehicles in the Kinathukadavu area have been confiscated. Do not leave your houses unnecessarily and cooperate to prevent the spread of the virus by strictly observing lockdown rules and social distancing. Avoid going for walks," advised the district police officials.
