License of agency selling Aavin milk at high prices has been revoked in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: The milk required for Aavin Dairy is procured through the Co-operative Milk Producers Association in Coimbatore district. 1.80 lakh litres of milk is produced daily and packaged and distributed to the public. Dairy Minister Avadi Nasser inspected the Aavin Dairy in Coimbatore a few days ago to inspect if dairy agencies were selling Aavin milk at extra cost or as per the stipulated cost of Rs.3 per litre by the Tamil Nadu Government.
He had warned that stern action would be taken in this regard. A survey of 707 dairy agencies at the district level was conducted on the orders of the Coimbatore General Manager Ravi Kumar. The study revealed that two agencies were selling Aavin milk at extra cost in Saravanampatti and Thadagam Road, Venkitapuram areas and hence the license of one of the two agencies was immediately revoked.
