To comabt the second wave of Covid-19 spreading rapidly across Tamil Nadu, the various preventive measures taken by the Tamil Nadu government has helped in seeing a subtle decline in fresh cases. However, the incidence of the disease has increased in a few districts including Coimbatore, Tiruppur and Erode. Hence, the TN Chief Minister decided to inspect the Covid prevention work in these districts. Later, he visited various wards in Coimbatore ESI Hospital and on arriving at the hospital, he immediately asked for the Coronavirus ward which shocked medical personnel at the hospital.

In spite of being advised by doctors and officials not to visit the Covid ward, the Chief Minister insisted and hence was provided with a PPE suit. Donning the PPE suit, M K Stalin inspected the Covid ward to check on the oxygen facilities and then the other wards. He specifically checked with the patients if they were being treated well which delighted the patients.
"We are glad you came to see us. No Chief Minister has ever met patients directly. But, we are so glad you thought your life was trivial if you didn't comfort us in person. We have no shortage and they are treating us well," was the echoing sentiment of all patients.
The TN Chief Minister's sensitivity towards his people in meeting Cvoid patients directly in Coimbatore has earned him praise from all quarters, with over a crore people lauding him on Twitter for the noble gesture.
