Vadavalli police inspector offers education aid to children orphaned by COVID-19 in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Posted as Tamil Nadu Police department’s inspector for Vadavalli in Coimbatore, Sastha Soma Sundaram is fulfilling the parents dream who succumbed to Covid in Coimbatore by providing financial aid to educate underprivileged children for free.
His father runs a social welfare organization called RTAM that helps orphaned people and children, Sastha, the inspector, is now following in his footsteps. Seeing the plight of orphaned people in his own father’s social organisation, this prompted the inspector to hasten his steps to help the children.
Speaking on behalf of him, his secretary while speaking with Simplicity said that the inspector has so far received more than several hundred enquiries over the same. His secretary said, “He has been receiving many inquiries daily for financial aid to children. We are working on it and will finalise it as soon as possible. It has just been two days since he announced about this”
The police inspector has himself posted on Twitter about this.
“Hi everyone. I’m taking full tuition fees for the underprivileged children who have lost their parents due to Covid-19 in Coimbatore. Please contact 9655209000” he tweeted.
Netizens are busy applauding the officer for his gesture. Meanwhile the Tamil Nadu government has announced free education till graduation and financial aid of Rs 5 lakh for their needs and necessities to those who have lost their parents. However, the amount along with interest will be given to the child upon attaining the age of 18 years.
