220 people infected with Covid-19 in Makkinampatti village next to Pollachi; Declared as containment zone
Coimbatore: The village of Makkinampatti near Pollachi in Coimbatore district has been declared as containment zone with over 220 people confirmed with Covid-19
The second wave of Covid-19 has intensified in Tamil Nadu and the impact is being seen in Coimbatore district with fresh cases of Covid-19 being reported everyday. 150 people were earlier confirmed as Covid-19 positive in the area under the Pollachi revenue division.

There are over 10,000 people living in Makkinampatti village next to Pollachi. The Panchayat administration has reported that more than 220 people have been infected with Covid-19's second wave in the village and 19 of them have succumbed to the virus in the village alone. The village has also been declared as a containment zone by health officials due to the large number of outsiders entering the village. The villagers have now been made aware about Covid-19 and its effects through the Panchayat members announcing through loudspeakers.
