Coimbatore recorded 104 mm summer rainfall: Climate Research Center
Coimbatore:Coimbatore district has recorded Summer rainfall of 104 mm which is less than last year.
Ramanathan, Head, Agro Climate Research Center, at TN Agricultural University, said: “Rains in March, April and May months of the year are calculated as summer rainfall. Currently, there is no rain in Coimbatore in March. Average Rainfall reported in April is 34 mm and in May is 70 mm.
Summer rainfall recorded in Coimbatore is 104 mm. It had rained for 9 days and last year summer rainfall in Coimbatore is 170 mm. So the current rainfall is 64 mm lesser than last year.
The Indian Meteorological Department has said that the southwest monsoon is expected to begin in Kerala soon. It is expected that Southwest rains in Coimbatore will be 200 mm and 860 mm in the Nilgiris.
