Increase of Covid-19 infection in factories operating in rural areas: Farmers Association demand action


Coimbatore: Covid-19 is increasing in rural areas due to factories operating in the suburbs and rural areas of Coimbatore. The farmers' association has demanded immediate action to curb this.

Tamil Nadu Farmers Association District President S. Palanisamy said, "The second wave of coronavirus is spreading very actively across Tamil Nadu. The Government of Tamil Nadu is taking various measures to control this and Covid-19 infection is declining in many districts. But it is on the rise in Coimbatore district. The spread of coronavirus has increased especially in the rural areas, causing severe suffering to farmers and people.

In Mayilampatti, a suburb of Coimbatore district, some factories are continuously operating in Nilambur, Chinniyampalayam, Somanur and Karumathampatti areas. Most of these factories are operating in villages and some of the factory workers have been infected increasing infection numbers in rural areas. The district administration should take immediate action in this regard. Action should be taken to control coronavirus infection in villages."

He also then urged that the relief offered at the ration shops should also be given to the sugar cards.
