To identify early lung infection and to control many infectious disease, chest X-ray screening is underway in Nilgiris, the vulnerable community
Coimbatore: Supriya Sahu, IAS, Principal secretary and CEO of Tamil Nadu Tea Federation and Monitoring officer of Nilgiris said in a tweet that she had organised screening of chest X-rays in Nilgiris in line with Covid.
"In an innovative approach in Nigiris we have brought synergy in chest screening for Covid-19 through Mobile X-Ray Van meant for TB screening. Qualified technician sends the Digital X-Ray to a Radiologist for expert advise. Huge help in early lung infection control”, tweeted the IAS officer.
This will help in detecting radiological findings indicative of Covid-19 in seconds and enables physicians and radiologists to triage the cases. Doctors say that though the screenings comes in of great help in identifying lung infections earlier, they also say that this should be done carefully thus not leading to cluster as there are chances to hastens the spread if it becomes cluster. Medical practitioners say that this could help in detecting tuberculosis too.
