Tamil Nadu Chief Minister flagged off 750 Oxygen Cylinders imported from Singapore by CII: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)
Coimbatore: As part of the CII Tamil Nadu Covid-19 relief measures, M K Stalin, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu today flagged off 750 Oxygen Cylinders which has been imported by CII from Singapore as a first consignment. The remaining 250 cylinders will be imported in the 2nd phase of the consignment.These 750 cylinders will be distributed to various hospitals in the State for immediate use by people who are affected by Covid.The total value of the cylinders contributed by the Bouncing Board Members of CII is Rs.3 crore.
CII is also importing another 1000 Oxygen Cylinders from United Arab Emirates supported by CII members.
C K Ranganathan, Chairman, CII Southern Region said that CII is working continuously with the Government for the State to come out of the pandemic situation and to restart business operations towards ensuring growth and livelihoods of people.To achieve this goal, CII is working with the Health and Industry Departments to speed up the vaccination programme and safeguard our people against the threat of Covid-19.Towards this effort, CII has embarked upon amajor vaccination drive, in which 10 lakh employees including their families of CII member companies will be vaccinated in the State, he added.
Dr S Chandrakumar, Chairman, CII Tamil Nadu said that CII Tamil Nadu has createdSpecial Task Forces onOxygenSupply Chain, Communication & Awareness, IT Support (Helpline), Beds with Oxygen support besides other medical infrastructure facilities to support the State Government in combatting the Covid pandemic in the State.
CII Task Force on Oxygen Supply Chain is working with Central and State Governments to augment oxygen supply by working on domestic capacity enhancement and support through imports; resolve logistical issues between States including issues of transportation, address non-availability of cylinders; policy-level interventions among others.. Apart from the above, CII members have also contributedoxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrators additional beds in hospitals, make shift hospitals, medical equipment, PPE kit and other relief materials to the people affected by Covid.
