Pollachi: To prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, a special camp is to be set up in 36 wards of Pollachi municipality and 20,000 vaccinations will be administered from Saturday, according to MP Shanmuga Sundaram.
A consultative meeting was held at the Pollachi Private Hall with the participation of traders, volunteers, business owners, various factory owners, municipal officials and doctors and was chaired by MP Shanmuga Sundaram.
Businesses were advised to act in a manner that traders could deliver goods to people's homes by them ordering online so that essential goods could reach the public without delay, during the complete curfew period.
Addressing the media, MP Shanmuga Sundaram said. "Various preventive measures are being taken to eradicate Covid-19. Even the Chief Minister announced that the day without a single Covid case would be the happiest day in Tamil Nadu. Based on this, 5 wards per day will be selected for vaccination of 18 to 45-year olds residing in 36 wards in Pollachi municipality and special camps will be set up, and 20,000 people will be vaccinated within a week. The general public should be vaccinated at this camp.
The Pollachi Government Hospital has no oxygen bed facilities and no ventilator facilities, hence volunteers and businessmen are providing funds. In a few days, beds with ventilator and oxygen facilities will be set up and steps will be taken to provide Covid treatment at Pollachi Government Hospital," he added.
