Elderly mother dies of shock hearing news of her 48-year old son’s demise due to Covid-19 in Coimbatore


Coimbatore: A 48-year old worker hailing from Singanallur Neelikonampalayam, Coimbatore died on Wednesday due to Covid-19. He is survived by his wife and son. He also cared for his 70-year old mother who lived with him.

Over the past few days, the 48-year-old worker suddenly fell ill and was rushed to Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment. It was discovered that he had contracted Covid-19 and was under treatment.

The mother was devastated on hearing that her son had taken ill and had reportedly fainted a few times. Her family members consoled her that her son would recover soon. But the 48-year-old worker who was in a critical condition on Thursday suddenly succumbed to the infection. On hearing of her son’s death, the mother reportedly fainted, but when her kin tried to wake her up, they discovered that she was dead. The deaths of two members in the same family on the same day has caused immense grief to both kin and the neighbourhood.
